CPME (Continued Personal Medical Exclusions) reviews your full medical history and excludes specific pre-existing conditions from the outset. Moratorium underwriting automatically excludes pre-existing conditions for the first two years, but covers them thereafter if you have no related symptoms or treatment during that period. We'll advise which is best for your circumstances.
Yes, with moratorium underwriting, pre-existing conditions may be covered after two years claim-free. With CPME, pre-existing conditions are typically excluded but everything else is covered from day one. Some insurers will also consider including pre-existing conditions for a higher premium.
PMI premiums typically range from around £50 to £200+ per month depending on your age, the level of cover chosen, the excess you select and the insurer. Family policies are more expensive than individual cover. Choosing a higher excess can significantly reduce your premium.
Yes, most comprehensive PMI policies include full cancer cover, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, specialist consultations and associated diagnostic tests. We ensure any policy we recommend includes robust cancer cover as a minimum.
For individuals, PMI premiums are not tax deductible. For businesses, premiums paid for employee PMI are an allowable business expense, though they become a taxable benefit in kind (P11D) for the employees covered. Group PMI is handled differently, speak to us for details.
Yes, most PMI insurers offer optional dental and optical add-ons at an additional premium. These typically cover routine dental check-ups, fillings, eye tests and a contribution towards glasses or contact lenses. We'll include these options in your comparison if required.
